I have two frags of zoanthids one neon green and the other is brown with green center. The brown/green I've had for about 2 years and the neon green for about 6 months. Neither of these frags has grown a single new polyp. What could be causing this and what could I do to help them start growing. All of my parameters are perfect and have never had a tank crash or algae problem. Is my water too clean? I was planning on keeping more sps but have decided not to recently.

What kind of light do you have? Flow? Where are they placed in the tank?

6x39 t5 light, moderate flow, place low in tank...tank is only 18" high.

Try fragging them and placing them higher up. I don't think the problem is the water, doesn't seem to be the light or flow. You say the parameters are all set which leaves placement. I say frag them because it will force the polyps to have to heal and may stimulate growth.

How do you go about fragging zoas? I didn't know you could. Do you cut each polyp?

Yes, depending on the zoa there are a couple of ways you could frag them. One way is to use a sharp blade to cut the individual polyps and re-mount them with glue on a disk or rock. You could also use a dremel to cut a piece of the rock and make a more clean cut around the zoos.
