I'm getting a 56 gallon column tank and trying to decide if I should get just the regular tank or if I should get it with the built in overflow. What are the pro's and cons to having built in overflows in your tank? Thanks!

If your going to have a sump and refugium you want the overflows to get water down to them. If the tank is gonna be stand alone there is no need for overflows. Personally I would want the sump and refugium and overflows.

Only con with built-in is the space inside the tanks it takes.

Many cons with external overflows including flooding & losing prime.

Yeah, I will be putting a sump/refugium underneath the tank.

In that case, get the drilled tank. Absolutely worth the extra money.

Watch your wording... you mean Hang on back (HOB) overflows... External overflows are the best of both worlds. Great design and take up no space INSIDE the tank. :D

I think I'll definitely get the tank with the overflow then. Thanks for all your help!
