Well a few months back I was asked to do a marine tank for pay at a local restaurant. (O.K. I begged) I got to choose the live and livestock and all. Basically I Get paid for setting up my dream reef. Well I started out searching for a tank (this small town doesn't have a LFS) and after a while decided to build it myself. I built the stand and sump as well. I went with a 120gal tank, 35 gal sump with T5 lighting. At this point in the game I didn't know what kind of tank I wanted to have (coral or FOWLR). I decided to do a full on reef but after time decided on all softies. I might add that the restaurant is also a great watering hole about 5 minutes from my house so if I need to be there every day it's no big deal. Well 3 months have past and every thing is going well. Well, except having to fight dinos. The tank is as follows...
Display - 120 gal
Sump - 35 gal
return pump - quiet one high head
closed loop with Mag 1200
2 - 1 inch overflows that drain into filter socks
Aqua - C remora protein skimmer with Mag 5 pump
Nova Extreme T5 lighting 432 watts on 12 hr photo period
About 150# live rock
DSB
I also was given room to add a RO/DI unit with a 32 gal trash bin to mix change out water.
