View Full Version : need an expert I.D on hitchhiker

These hitchhikers seem to be multiplying pretty fast, i started out only seeing a few good sized ones, but now there are probably 50 tiny sized creatures. They look sort of like chitons with 3 horn looking appendages on them(cant tell if its front or back), i have been calling them triceratops lol. Im pretty sure they arent pods, atleast any kind ive seen.

isopods perhaps
They look pretty gnarly!

I gonna stick with isopods the appendages make them appear like sphaeromatids.

The are many types of Isopods. I wouldn't say for sure that this variety is the Cirolanid Isopod. Read the link I provided. Cirolanids do not have the appendanges like the OP described which appear on the males. His second to last picture looks very much like a female.

That action picture clearly shows it attacking a hermit crab.
Look again.
