I am looking to run a large UV sterilizer in my 120 SPS tank, it is a 4 x 55W unit, 1600gph.
Can someone please direct me to some information on whether this is good or bad for SPS tanks.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

you should do a search or check in the chemistry section

I cant link you anything but I know a lot of people that dont run UV and get very nice tanks. I personally have never run UV and had a decent tank. I cant show you pictures because I just upgrade tanks, but can assure you, that you dont absolutely need one.

Holy moly! 4 x 55W? That's huge. I mean, I'm a firm believer in LARGE sized UV's, but that is really big. What are your needs for a UV, BTW?

I just really want to clean the water up, without using ozone.
I have a heavily stocked tank, I overskim, run carbon, but I am still not getting that pristine water.
That UV unit is probably way to big, I just had a chance to get a good deal on almost new unit so I wanted to ask around.
It seems everyone is of the same opinion it would be way to much for anything except a fish only tank.

I was going to say the same. For fish/parasite use, it will very well make a dent in the problem, even if it is a recirculating setup. But just for clearing up your water, I'd say no, too big.
So what about your water isn't clean? Milky? Tiny debris? Microbubbles?
You may want to try a water polishing canister filter (diatomaceous earth type) for occasional use? I personally use ozone myself.

I fear ozone for some reason, I have samll kids in the house. Just don't trust it enough as of right now.
My water just has a yellowish tint, not terrible just not where I want to be.

I would increase your carbion usage then. Change frequently.

I run ozone with no problems but I run it at a level that is low relative to tank volume. But you can get similar effect with carbon especially if you actively pass water over it.
