I will be stocking 2-3 fish soon in my biocube 14, but am upgrading to a sunpod for lighting and want to go topless, so that means no jumpers! I wanted a wrasse and watchman goby until I learned they are both jumpers, which sucks.

Can anyone suggest some active, colorful fish that will stay put? Since I can only have 2-3, I'd like to have some fish that will stay out in the open rather than hide.

Do clownfish jump?

really--all fish are capable of jumping especially if stressed. Clowns however are not known for jumping. Wrasses definetly are known for jumping however.

Two or three blue-green chromies would be suitable for what you have in mind.
Ditto with anthias

Madisonrose---the poster would need a good steady supply of live copopods for the long term survival of a mandarine. It is usually recommended that you have a refugium for that;)

there are a lot of small colourful damsel fish that are very inexpensive. If you were to dedicate your tank soley to those it would be quite beautiful
Damsels don't mix well with other fish--they grow up to be bullies--but in a tank on their own they do fine

so the clown would have to go(its related to a damsel) but damsels pick on them
unless it is a tomato clown--they will beat the "" out of any damsel fish:lol:

I just got a Wheeler's wathman goby/randals pistol shrimp combo for my open top nano. Also plan on getting a Royal Gramma next. Any fish can jump, but I think these have less of a chance.

I agree--its very hard to be definitive with fish behaviour so "less of a chance" is an appropriate statement here.
