Would two vortechs be sufficient flow for a 180 gallon mixed reef? Tank dimensions would be 6 x 2 x 2. Also, if it is not enough flow, what about adding a tunze nano wavebox? Thanks

I think two of the mp40s would be enough. They can move a lot of water....

will you also be using a sump and return pump?

two MP40s is a good start IMO but depending on the aquascape it may be hard to get flow everywhere. of course the return pump might make up for the lack.

there would be two returns ... so figure an extra 1000 gph or so.

I've got two 40's on my 125g and they are doing wonders eliminating some deadspots that I had in the corners of the tank. I also run an Iwaki MD40RLXT as a return pump using a spray bar. I'd say that you will have plenty of flow, depending on whatever aquascape you use.

I have (2) MP40W's on my 155 and it has lots of flow.

Click the red house to see the video i have of them. I show how they move water on short pulse mode.
