can anyone help me out with an ID on this guy? Got him for 5 bucks the other day, but he seems to not be doing that great, some of the flesh is receding from the edges.

I suck at ID's, but maybe its a single head of Blasto?
Could be way off...someone will chime in.

I could be wrong, but it looks like a small Lobophylia to me. IMO, it is not a Blasto.

lobophytum are leather corals, which i know this is not. Scolymia are meat corals which have a completely different shape. This has a 3 inch long stalk that goes down, ive seen them before growing in colonies. I just cant remember the name. Any other help?

Tagging along, I just picked up something almost exactly like this...but about three times larger! It's about the size of round desert plate and has a stalk that's several inches long as well. It's kind of like a lollipop.

Haha! yea there were other ones at the lfs that were huge! And some colonies had about 10-20 heads

Still thinking Blastomussa. But still could be wrong :)
Here's some google image search results on blastomussa. Kinda looks like the ID in question could be a somewhat unhealthy frag of a Blasto.
Disclaimer....could still be very wrong

Scolymia all the way man. its not receding. the coral is constantly layering a new skeleton on top of the old one and it grows bigger and bigger as it goes, that explains the skeletal structure. i have one the same shape and color. trust me
