I plan to get some for my sump but Im wondering what kind of lighting should it have? could a regular light bulb with enough watts support it?

I wouldn't suggest it (May promote bad algae growth)...go with an aquarium bulb rated somewhere between 6700-10000. A PC or T5 HO should be sufficient. You can find SW bulbs that fit in a standard light fixtures.

You should try to get as many different types of macro as possible. Different varieties will take out different nutrients at different rates, so i feel if you have lots of different types, it's the best way to go

Would this be good for fuge lighting?

" Mini Aqualight includes 9 watt 10,000K daylight and 9 watt True Actinic 03 Blue compact fluorescent lamps.

I use Compact spiral bulb with a screw in reflector from homedepot, and chaeto grew like crazy. The bulb were 36 watts, plenty of light.

Just get one of these from home depot:

They sell a nice clip on light socket with reflector there too for like $10. I have hardly any nuissance algae in my fuge, just a little bit of turf algae on towards the top of the divider where the water flows over. Even if I did have a ton of "nuissance algea", it's in my fuge.... and it's taking up nutrients just like the macro would be lol.

The bulb mentioned above works well too, the Spiral CF Bulb. They are actually better off if you have a smaller stand with not much ventilation, since they don't put off much heat at all. The bulb I posted puts up more light, but a bit more heat too.

That's exactly what I use but with (2) 10k's and no actinic. Too early to tell how my chaeto likes it....deep green color but not much growth yet.

This will work great. :)

I agree with the CF bulbs from the hardware store. They even sell floodlight variants (basically the standard spiral CF bulb encased in a reflector). I always buy the 6500K variants.
