Just got 3 heads of frogspawn last night and I'm wanting suggestions on placement based on lighting. I currently have them placed about 6" under my 239 watt t-5 lights, they are in medium flow. Is that ok or should they go lower in the tank?

mine are happy in medium flow at the bottom of a 24" deep tank under 8 T-5's. 48" long tank so they're 54watt bulbs i think.

This is the same way I have mine except it's under 250W MH bulbs. On the sandbed with medium flow.

I guess my next ? would be. Is my location ok? I would like to keep them off the bottom because of strong flow down there.

Mine is in the "V" shadow cast by my MH. Its real close to the top right under my center brace. So still, low light, with medium flow.

Just keep it anywhere in med light.

Anywhere with low-medium light with relatively flow. Theyre pretty hardy and seem to be affected more by flow than light. Anywhere the ployps slightly wave back and forth should be pretty good.

And what does everyone feed frogspawn? I'm feeding the tank cyclop-eez freeze-dried food, and some Kent PhytoPlex and Kent ZooPlex at times but i'm wondering if i need something else for the frogspawn.

6" under 239W T5s is probably too much light, try to get them lower. I have some 7-8" under 5x54W and they're very pale, unfortunately I don't have anywhere else to put them. Good luck.

I have mine at the top with 250 watt metal halide lighting and medium flow.

mine are about 6-8" off the bottom under 8 54watt t-5 and i can't feed THEM anything they reject anything i drop in so once a week i dose phyto and a half cube frozen cyplose in the tank just in case

I have the 36'' NEP myself and my frogspawn is on my sandbed in my 50g breeder.... Seems to like it there, light wise. They are in medium flow aswell...

Mine loves a small piece of silverside. Spits out mysis. I have mine in the sand as well.

Low to medium flow. Almost any light except right at the top with MH. I don't really feed except accidentally: mysis, cyclopeeze.

Mines at the top 2/3 of the tank with 250watt MH and in med flow and it likes it there. Have another wall frogspawn that prefers lower light levels and med flow.
It really will depend on your frogspawn and how it reacts to the specific lighting and flow in your tank. Most of the above are good guidelines to start at though.

I have 3 large pieces (2 pieces shown in pic), about 10" below my 6x54w T5 fixture.
I got a very large one (looked like a basket ball) at a good price, not that there is anything wrong with brown, I'm pretty dark myself but I don't care so much for the color of the coral, see attached pic. It broke into 4 pieces while I was trying to glue it to a larger rock...worked out great, I sold 2 pieces for the price I paid for the whole thing.

sorry about hijacking the thread...but does anyone know if this color would brighten up? I've had it for a month now.

I feed Reef Chili and stick a piece of fish in their tentacles once a week. They eat slow, but it is very interesting watching them eat. They really puff up after.

This is kinda hard to decide. I have a small frogspawn I have to move uo off the sand bed, my wife just got a deresa clam. Will the frogspawn be ok at the top of my 55g under 4x T5 lighting?

Low to medium flow. Almost any light except right at the top with MH. I don't really feed except accidentally: mysis, cyclopeeze.

I have mine at the top with 250 watt metal halide lighting and medium flow.

frogspawn will take off with good light, it does great in the top of the tank or at the bottom or in the middle. its like a weed lol flow however it is a little picky about high flow, medium it does its best but it wil still do fine in low flow.

I started with 3 heads about 8 years ago and now im over 100. branching hammer i started with 7 heads and its over 200 closer to 300

this 215g has about 3000gph flowing through and alternates one side to the other

Mine is at the bottom of my tank. On the sand in medium alternating flow about 30" from a 400W MH bulb. It grows like a weed and I have never actually seen it eat anything.
