So here we go! The start of the tank build. I will post many pictures..........as time allows!;)

So here to start is the tank, these aren't the best pictures but they will give you an idea of what we are working with. This is a tunze tank roughly about 111-115 gallons. The light is a Tunze 250watt fixture. It was a 150 but I made some modifications. LOL

<a href="http://s83.photobucket.com/albums/j320/burntflea/?action=view&current=100_0664.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j320/burntflea/100_0664.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s83.photobucket.com/albums/j320/burntflea/?action=view&current=100_0665.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j320/burntflea/100_0665.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Now the ballasts are Icecap Electronic 250watt ballasts. I have two separate ballasts but only one lamp cord. Each ballast can be run independently on different timers if I so desire. I try and keep as little cords as possible in my setups. The light will be held up about 6" to 8" off the surface of the water with the white posts that you see. I will not have a canopy but may try and retro fit some T-5's into the setup. I personally like the dusk to dawn look.

So here are a few pictures of the ROCK!

Its about 80 pounds of Pukani. I love this rock, it's not dense at all, very light and the color of this rock is outstanding. The only problem with it, is that it is very brittle and if not handled properly it will turn into a very expensive box of rubble. Ideas from you guy about aquascaping! I was think something along the lines if pillars that slope so corals can be placed in relation to lighting needs. I am thinking of staying Region specific after a conversation with Calfo a few years ago. I want a mix. I would like to do something that looks about as natural as you can get, SPS LPS softies whatever. I saw a tank from a few years ago that was beautiful and it had SPS, LPS and leathers in it but natural looking as if you were diving or snorkeling.

Enjoy and let me know what you guys think. This is not the most colorful rock out of the box that I have seen but #1 and friend did me a solid favor so I am not complaining. And #2 it will color back up again in the tank in no time. But IMO its not the worst I have seen by any means either.

Should be an interesting build. I'll follow along. The live rock looks really nice. Where did you get it from?

You can find it online sometimes...right now I guess it hasn't been coming in. I spoke with Gavin the other day at Pacific Aquafarms and he wasn't getting any in until next week. Bruce over at Aquatek here in Austin found it for me. This rock is really great for aquascaping it goes together like a puzzle.
