Hello Again! :)
I have always used water from the water store that has already gone through the reverse osmosis process, however, I recently heard a couple say that they are using water straight from their water hose outside. Is this really ok for the tank?

No it is definitely not safe for the tank. Too many contaminants. They'll end up with a host of problems down the road.

That's not a very good practice. Some tap water is better than others, but for the most part, it's considered unsuitable for a reef tank. It can contain nitrates and phosphates that can lead to excessive algae growth, not to mention heavy metals which can cause much worse problems. And of course, it also needs to be dechlorinated.
What I would suggest, especially for a tank your size, is to buy your own RO/DI filtration system. They generally only run between $100-$200, and if you add up how much money you're spending buying water, you'll see that it will pay for itself very quickly. Purifying your own water is only going to cost you a few cents per gallon.

Thats not bad at all. Yeah we used to spend hundreds of dollars on water the last time we had the tank set up. That's for that!

I used the "RO" water from the machine at my local albertsons for months. No problems with it.
