View Full Version : Strange Shark Behavior

My Coral Cat shark eats pretty much anything, including small expensive fish. However the last two nights while feeding my tangs and angels I placed a 3 by 6 inch piece of seaweed with clip in the tank. My shark swam around looking for food (he gets fed every other day). Then he ripped the seaweed off the clip and ate it. I was very surprised. Has anyone else every noticed this behavior. Is it normal or is he maybe making up for a deficiency in his diet? Just curious if anyone else has thoughts on this matter.

my coral cats always come out of hiding when i put nori or feed formula 2 to my tangs. maybe the seaweed triggers a feeding response in the sharks because they think they are going to get fed their meaty foods. (what food do u feed ur sharks?)...and sometimes i have seen them swallow some floating seaweed nori.

My hands in the water usually triggers the shark, I have just never seen him actually eat seaweed. I feed him shark formula, squid, shrimp, krill, mussel, clam, octopus. I usually soak it in Vita Chem and/or Garlic.

When I had a coral cat it would growl. It was very creepy. I ordered him online and his gills were burned because they packed him in too little water for shipping. He may of had something wrong with him...
