I recently posted a pic of my tank and received alot of great sugestions including getting the rock off the back wall and the floor of the aquarium. I went to the hardware store and purchased som egg creat and 1.25" PVC. I see where I have to drill holes in the PVC and zip strip it to the grid. Here are some of the questions I have;

1) how much should I elevate the LR from the floor of the aquarium so it does not look like the rock is sitting a shelve?

2) how do I cut the grid (with tin snips)?

3) Are there any diagrams I could go by in setting up my reef (I would like to create a shelve and a hollow space in the middle to maybe house corals that do not like light)?

Thanks for any help!!!

1. I would think just an inch or so, I guess the reason your doing this is so you can point a powerhead underneath to blow out any thing that would settle under the rocks?

2. diagonal pliers work well its just plastic

3. Not aware of any

Look forward to seeing your results

I have used a screw driver to cut the egg crate. Just pick a row you want to seperate/cut from the crate and use the screw driver like a hammer, works great.
