I recently switched my old 150 10000k halide bulb for a new 150 14000k halide bulb. Is it normal for coral to be shriveled up for the first few days? I am assuming that they are just adapting to the new light seeing as how it is a brand new bulb and it is probably incredibly brighter then a used older bulb. Just want to see if anyone else has experiences like this when switching.

You should acclimate your corals to the new light. There are a few ways to do this, a few layers fiberglass screening over the tank and removing one a week is one, raising the fixture and then slowly lowering it back down over the course of a few weeks is another. Also, lowering the photoperiod for a bit can be helpful as well.

Thanks. I will try raising it 6 inches and see whats going on. One of my purple acros at the highest point of my tank has already bleached. The only other corals that are being disturbed are mushrooms a frogspawn and one colony of zoos.
