Hello, my 250W HQI stopped working. I ordered a new one but it wont be in for a week or so. I have actinic's going still, How long can the coral live on just actinic? Or can they at all? I have basic stuff, brain coral, frogspawn, mushrooms ect....Need advice pronto!!!

actinics provide UV, i think they can survive on that for a week. maybe.

You'll be fine until you bulb arrives.

Anything is better than nothing. Go to HD or Lowes and rig up some "trailer park" lights. Buy some multi-bulb light fixtures and some replacement ballasts so you can rewire them to overdrive some 'grow light' or 'day light' bulbs. Except for the 'grow light' bulbs, they typically have the kelvin rating on them.

Your tank will be fine, just be careful to acclimate the tank under the new light by raising the light and reducing its on time.

You'll have no problem. I turn my metal halides off for a few days once in while just to simulate stormy conditions (and save life hours on my bulbs). I just run 4 110 watt VHO actinics, and everything does great.
