I have a big, beautiful Toadstool that is getting too big. 18" across is getting a little ridiculous!
I like the location and would like to keep it there if I can frag or cut it down somewhat.
Question is.............will cutting off a big piece kill it?
Has anybody done this?
Would love some advice........

No it will not kill it. You can cut around the perimeter of the head - you'll end up with a large circular (donut) piece that you can further cut into several pieces.

Should I take it out of the tank before cutting? Will it cloud the tank by releasing ????

The next time you do a water change keep the waste water in a few separate containers (large enough to submerge the toadstool). After cutting, rinse the mother colony and the frags in the containers - first container, then the next, then the next.....
This will allow the toxics to be diluted. 5 minutes in each container is plenty. Return the mother colony to the DT and the frags to the frag tank or rack.
Be sure to keep the "rinse" water heated and circulated (a heater and powerhead is ideal).

What do you recommend using to cut the coral?
I used scissors this week to frag my Tyree Toadstool. Make sure the scissors are clean and sharp.
