Ive looked around all over the place to ID the algae growing in my tank, with no luck.

It does not break apart easily, very spongy almost. It is pretty firm. It can grow in clumps, and is growing along my rocks and back wall. In my tank it seems to be growing more where there is higher flow, but cant be sure. I got it from a frag from another tank, where it was all over. It doesnt seem to be competing for space with other algae such as coralline, and it doesnt affect my corals at all. I actually dont mind it as it adds a nice color and texture, but im trying to gather more info.

Thanks

Kind of hard to tell. Do you have a better picture? It maybe some kind of sponge but it is hard to see in your photo.

It meets the visual keys for the genus Cryptonemia, a genus of flattened bladelike plants. From Hawaiian Reef Plants, 2007:
"Plants decumbant (a growth pattern with axes arising from a single basal holdfast but becomming secondarily attached to the substratum and generally lying parallel to it) , with numerous peltate bladelets, these shingle like and overlapping, forming secondary attachments."
Whatever it is I like it.

Any chance it could be young growth of Porphyra (http://www.saltcorner.com/sections/guest/algaepage/Red/redlettuce/Pleucosticta.htm)

I like it too, much more attractive than hair algae.

Not sure what it is but I would be happy to take some off your hands and research it in my tank.
