This is my new project after selling my 75g a while back. Ive decided to go with a smaller 14g tank, with mainly soft corals. The tank is already a couple months old, but ill start from the beginning. Enjoy!

Day 1 (12/10/08)

Got a good deal on a used tank and stand. Paid $120 locally for everything

Water, salt, and sand added. I got the live sand from the same person i bought the cube from.

Live rock came from my LFS.. approx 17 lbs. I decided to keep it simple by going with 2 large pieces. I am happy with the result

Live rock in the water

Goodies from the LFS. My girlfriend has had very good luck with aquavitro.

And a final tank shot, all set-up and ready to cycle.

This is how the tank remained for a couple weeks while it cycled. The cycle was very light because the rock was cured when i bought it, and the sand was already live. RO/DI water was used from the start. I made the mistake on my 75g of using tap water to fill the tank.

Stay tuned....

Ill save you all the suspense, fast forward 2 boring months to today.

A lot has happened with it recently. I didnt do much for a while as i wanted to make sure it was cycled completely. water param's were stable for 4 weeks before i added the CUC which consists of about 8 mixed hermits and about 5 mixed snails. The next addition were 2 occelaris clowns which are already showing signs of mating.

A FTS as of today

The only 2 swimming inhabitants (that i can see, anyway)

Some nice green striped mushrooms

Another mushroom, and a very small pink birds nest frag that was donated to me

My "zoo garden"

Clove poly's that were also donated, and growing quickly

I couldnt get a good picture of it, but there is also an orange monti cap that was donated, and some green star poly's that were donated. The GSPs are spreading like wild fire already.

Future plans include a shrimp/goby pair, more zoo's, and an anemone once i feel my tank is mature enough for it.

Ill post more info about the tank mods and other stuff later

Wow I love the tank! Does that snail crawling on the back wall in the first fast forward picture have an orange shell?

yup, bright orange and his body is white. Havnt ID'd him yet

UPDATE: So heres whats new...

I added a wheeler watchmen goby/pistol shrimp pair. They have been in there a couple days and i think i got a good pair. The shrimp has been hard at work tunneling under my large rock. He has 2 or 3 different burrows from it. Very cool to watch. The goby just pretty much stays put.
A couple new shots of my zoo's. All of them have taken off! The orange-center ones are multiplying by the day, and the PPE's and others in the first picture are spreading well also. I have some other zoo's that are hard to get pictures of, including some nuclear greens. Im waiting for them to (hopefully) start spreading soon.
Another shot of the goby, doing what he does best.
More zoo's. I rented a 60mm f2.8 macro for a week, so im trying to use it as much as possible.
These guys would take over my tank if i let them! They are huge compared to all my others and spread like wildfire. They look cool though so i cant complain too much.
First attempt at a top-down shot. This is just through the opening in the biocube. Not real sure how to get the shot without catching the reflection of the light yet.

Well There it is. Ill take some FTS's and post them in the next couple days. I recently made a LED Retro for my girlfriends biocube as a project, and depending on her success i may do the same to mine.

WOW!!!....nice tank!!!...
love the pix...
is that a red macro on that KR with the zoas on it?
great photo skills too!
thanks for sharing...
make me want to "re-do" my BC14 :p

BTW Yankees2519, does your tank have the stock PC lighting in it?...my colors NEVER looked like that with PC lighting...
Had to upgrade to 70watt MH to be satisfied with my color...
do tell!!!!

Sorry not sure what "KR" is? I have reddish macroalgae growing all over my rocks if thats what youre referring to though.
As for the lights i have the 3.24 nano customs upgrade. I have 1 10,000k, 1 actinic, and 1 50/50. I had 2 10,000k's and 1 actinic for growth but it was way too yellow so i opted for one 50/50. Usually when i take pics i just turn off the single 10,000k and run the 50/50 and actinic for better color.
Thanks for the compliments
