Im looking for a good set of test kits. Mine are older and for some odd reason I don't get the same reading evrytime. I use my freinds test kit( API )and it test consitantly. Do test kits have an expiration date? Im not sure? but.... I want to get a really good test kit that I can have for a while and know im getting accurate test results.

Lots of brands seem to have trouble from time to time, but most people find Salifert, Elos, and API reliable, if the test kits are fairly new. The API have been reported to last about a year, but the Salifert seem to last a lot longer. I don't know about Elos.

In have had terrible experiences with Salifert's batch-to-batch consistency, but that's just my experience (especially Alk and Ca.). I use Elos Ca, La Motte Alk and La Motte NO3 and have been happy with those tests over the last two years.

I have found that API comes the closest to those tests in terms of a lower price point test. HTH
