I've had small white sponges (?) growing in my overflows for some time. They look like small cotton balls, about half the size of a pencil eraser. I've never really worried about them, I figured it was added bio diversity... But.. Now they are making their way into the display tank and onto the live rock.

Any body have any experience with these?
Should I do something to get rid of them?
Just let them be?

Thanks,
Paul

They are commonly termed Pineapple Sponges. They are harmless in my experience, good filter feeders, will wax and wane as your tank matures. If they encrust a pump then just scrape them off.
