My large Gigas has some red mucus on the inside of its shell. I noticed this a few weeks ago and have kept an eye on it. Does not seem to be gettin worse or better. I thought it might have been cause by my cleaner shrimp picking on the clam. Last week I moved them to another tank. Clam look normal durning the day, I just notice this at night.
I also noticed the shell is not as thick in this spot.

Here is an example of how thick the shell is at other place.

And here is the clam durning day.

I moved the clam into this tank about 5 months ago and all he has done is thicken his shell, almost 3/8" in places.

Has any one seen anything like this. I plan to just leave him be.

i don't think the mucus is anything to worry about, it's quite common and should work its way out off the shell.

is there anything keeping the mantle from laying flat on the shell??
