Just out of curiosity anyone know of any types of Damsels that don't turn into monsters besides green chromis and blue chromis?

Just wondering as it'd be nice to add a little movement and color while I'm waiting on the big fish I want.

I like my talbot damsel. He's my first fish and has never bullied anyone. He acts tough when a new fish is first introduced, but he's definitely at the bottom of the social order in the tank.

I love the Jewel damsel. Couldn't tell you how aggressive they get. I do think they get kind of big.

I have a yellow tail blue damsel. He doesn't fight with anyone. Gets along great and if anything, he's usually the one being chased off.

allens damsels, are probably the least aggressive, then maybe stracki damsels.

i have allens and talbot damsels in my 60. they only squabble amongst themselves, and half heartedly at that, but leave every one else alone.

I was going to suggest the Allen's and Talbot's damsels, but someone already beat me to it. Still no guarantees, but they're the least likely to give you grief in my experience.

I have three of these in my classroon tank and they are model citizens. Actually they are somewhat shy. When the school year is over they will move to my big tank at home. I think they are beautiful. :)

whether any of these fish become monsters really depends on what other fish they are housed with.
Any damsel, when kept with tangs, angles, other damsels or related, can behave relatively well.
However, they can turn into monsters overnight if less aggressive species are introduced into the environment.
This is the reason so many avoid them. That, and they are difficult to catch once you realize you want to keep certain species not compatible with them...

Have a Jewel and was ok when small -about 1'' but now is 3.5''
and is the tank bully so I would advise to stay away from one.

Stay away from Bluefin Damsels. No only is he ultra aggresive but he will likely nip at your corals. And if that wasn't enough the turn all black when they mature.

I have two yellow tailed blue damsels and they are definitely at the bottom of the pecking order. But they're housed with quite a few bigger fish including a butthead Powder Blue Tang, a naggy Clarkii female (with her mate) and a really bossy Lawnmower Blenny. I imagine it really depends on the other tank inhabitants.
