I used red slime control yesterday. I dosed 18 scoops for my 180 gallon tank. This morning my fish are on the bottom of the tank, with rapid breathing. I did a 20 gallon water change, added an air stone and turned my skimmer back on to improve the oxygen levels.

I am assuming that once my lights went off, the oxygen level dropped due to the red slime chemical.

Can anyone help me rectify this problem?

I have 4 chromis
2 hippo tangs
1 naso blonde tang
2 clowns

thanks

I can't tell from their web site what that product is. Does it give ingredients on the box?

no, nothing on the box. I removed the collection cup from the skimmer in hopes to increase the oxygen level as the water drops back into the sump.

thanks Randy.

The stuff I used said that you needed to add the airstone when you dose it. I'm guessing yours didn't have those instructions.

No instructions. I did call BlueLife (manufacturer) and he helped ensure that I was doing everything possible; adding air stones, removing the return baffles to allow the water to "crash" down into the pipes to increase oxygen exchange.

He did mention that their new instructions indicate to only use the product first thing in the morning to avoid ph drop.
