My poor poor shutter.

Bet's on whether they will service my XSI under warranty?

174,000 shots in 2 months? Crazy...

That is ALMOST 3000 shots per day, what were you shooting so many pictures of?

Dude, that works out to something like 121 shots an hour, 24 hours a day for two months. How did you manage to take that many shots??

My XSI is off to Canon now - we'll see how they react when they read off the shutter count. I've search high and low for any sort of guarantee on the shutter life on the XSI, and I can't find anything (ie. they rate the latest canon 1D to 300k shots, but they don't post a lifespan for the XSI, allegedly it's 50k).

I'm honestly not betting on them fixing it, and I knew this was going to happen eventually (I actually got lucky with the number of shots). Going to get a 5Dmkii soon...

The number of shots, like most all statistical applications, represents a bell curve.

The Xsi is rated for 100,000 shots. If you tested 1,000 XSi's, most would fail right around 100,000 with an equally proportionate but exponentially smaller number failing before and after this number until there are no survivors left.

Taking all of those images in short succession may have increased the shutter's expected life as well. The figure of 100,000 expects your camera to be several years old giving the parts inside time to become brittle, weak from being knocked around in your camera bag, ect.

They repaired it under warranty!

<3 Canon...I bought a mark ii to celebrate! I feel dirty.

Regarding showing my films, I'm making a high def short film out of my stuff. I don't want to spoil the surprise by showing off any of it unfinished...

I just took a little over 1000 shots at a wedding/reception Saturday and I don't feel worthy. You are the trigger master!
