I've read that injecting aiptasia with white vinegar can kill them. Has anyone had any negative side effects after doing this? Is vinegar bad for anything else in the tank?

I would not try this. I ordered about 20 peppermint shrimp check for the right species. If you get the right one they will git it out of there in no time, my 125 was covered 4 years ago shrimp have been gone for 3 years and I still have not seen any.

I've never used vinegar, but kalk paste works.

I alternate between kalk and vinegar. Make it hot in the microwave.

I have done it for years. I fill a shot glass with vinegar and quick boil it in the microwave. then inject the aptasia in the oral disk with boiling vinegar. 100% kill rate. they fall off the rock instantly. and even if you miss it, you can chase it in the rock and inject it, will usually still kill it.

I wouldnt do a whole lot a one time, but a few ounces like a shot glass once a week or so has never hurt anything

What do you use to inject them. I have needles from test kits but they dont have sharp metal points. Do you need like an insulin needle.

An insulin needle would work. I didnt know any nurses or dr's at the time, so I ended up going to an animal vet and getting a needle from there since none of the regular drug stores or vet's would give me a needle.

they must have thought I was a druggy or something

if there is a tractor supply near you they carry needles

Getting needles is not an issue. I tried this and after 30 minutes the aiptasia were back. The vinegar was cold though.

yeah, if they aptasia came back 30 min later, you didnt do something right. it should be boiling hot, and you should inject the needle right into the oral disc. the will instantly kill/cook the aptasia and they float away.

Use 4cc right above it and it will die instantly.
