I will be ordering one today. I just don't know what model to get.

I am thinking the MP40 would be overkill and I would always have it throttled back. I could get the MP20 with battery backup for about the same price as one MP40.

Suggestions are really appreciated!

This decision depends on if your 'ever' planning to upgrade your tank. If so, then I would go with the MP40. You can always save more $$$ and get the battery back up later. Plus you can upgrade your tank and still be cool.

That way you wont be upset when you upgrade thinking "I wish I would have just bought the MP40" :D

The MP20 is the EXACT same as the MP40 accept they use a different controller.

I can upgrade to MP40 controller once I get a bigger tank.

I have seen both in a 40 breeder.. It is crazy how much more flow the mp40 has over the mp20. My buddy has a mp40 and I have the mp20. If you are not planning on upgrading anytime soon I would go with the mp20, I found it to have a perfect amount of flow in my 40 breeder. I'm not sure the mp40 would be overkill on a 29 bio-cube, probably unecessary though. Just my experience with the two.

MP20 it is!

I can upgrade the controller when I upgrade my tank.

I have owned a Gen1 MP40 a few years back and it was nuts. Perfect for my 90g so I would be throttling it back on this 29g anyway.

I absolutely LOVE it!

It saved me from throwing in the towel on my nano.

I was dosing 2x per day by hand to keep my cal, alk, mag stable. There is only so long you can do that before going crazy. Now my parameters are rock solid and I don't even do anything. :D

I like your second idea, MP20 and the battery back. Plenty of flow and a piece of mind.

I have it all hooked up and the mp20 is more than enough flow!

I certainly made the right choice! :)
