Curious how many people are running the Solana as is and how many have made mods to it.

Kind of broke it down into
1- Running Stock
2- Minor mods- added ATO or made center compartment a fuge but not much else
3-Multiple add-ons- replaced skimmer, pump, plumbed to fuge, etc.
4- Everything but the glass is still the same.

Im running it stock right now only because its 2 days old, just added an extra powerhead koralia 1 for extra flow...

Some mods that I will do in the future are the following, replace return pump with a maxijet 900 (much cooler running, uses only 9watts and reduces flow)

Really dont know if Im gonna replace the simmer or not, waiting for a real skimmer that doesnt need to be modded to fit (tunze).

I've made some mods, but haven't got it up and running yet...

1. Sapphire Aquatics Skimmer - For Solana
2. VorTech MP40w
3. ATI 24" 4x24w Powermodule
4. Center compartment will house filter floss/cheato/ChemiPure/Purigen
5. ATO - to come, might get a ReefKeeper Elite to control that along with most of the rest of my tank

I'm running stock for now but really need to figure out how to hide the container of water for an ATO

I did some mods to mine

1) Lee Mar Stand (added brushed nickle hardware, and lighting inside, so I can see when working)
2) Aqua C Remora Skimmer
3) VorTech MP20
4) Reef Keeper Lite L3
5) 250 W Sunpod Helios 20k
6) Current USA 1/10 HP Chiller
7) ATO (Working from Reef Keeper and aqualifter)
8) Plumbed intake and return in black wall for purigen, chempure, phosphate remover
9) 2 part dosing BRS with Drew's Dosers (These are on order, but not installed yet thought the lines are already in place for this)
10) UV (plumbed after media)

I think it thats it, took a little time to put together

Can you share some pictures of your stand and the rest of the tank you modded? I'd love to see a Lee Mar Stand.

The only photos I have of the stand are those I took during the build where none of the other mods were completed yet. I will have to take some pictures in the next few days of the rest of the setup.

In this shoot (sorry for the quality) I think you can see the second set of loc line that is the media return.

This is the back, as you can see it is solid, so I had to drill holes in it to have rear access. I put bulkheads in the holes to give them a clean look (unfortunately, when this picture was taken that had not happened yet).

That stand is very nice, now is that a Lee Mar custom made stand or is it one I could purchase from a website or what? Just curious...incase I ever wanted to switch or refer a freind.

It is not custom, but it is not necessarily easy to get a hold of if a local fish store does not have them setup as a vendor. I searched the internet in an attempt to order this stand and could not. My assumption is that because the stand is totally finished, assembled and does not have visable seams it must ship completely assembled. This makes for a big package and big shipping expense. One of my local fish stores had this stand, but would not sell it to me separately from the tank and light. That is when I went home to search the internet for somewhere to buy it. After two more visits to the same fish store I was able to convince them to order one for me. I bought the two brushed nickel handles at home depot.

So what stand did you convince them to order, a Lee Mar what? Is there a brand/size/etc...price?

Thats the same stand I have, got it with my Solana from my LFS.

Doesnt have a drawer, and is solid in the back. Made out of MDF.

So that drawer is just for looks? No extra storage there?

Mr Pheer

Its not a drawer, there is just empty space behind the panel that looks like a drawer.

You can easily find someone locally in SoCal who can order one from Lee Mar

I think the stand is the same size as the one that comes with the Solana set-up. The difference is that it is pre-built and the quality is a whole lot better. Lee-Mar builds them and I think they are cheaper than the Solana stand from what I remember

I don't live in SoCal, so I couldn't order one locally. I live in Oklahoma.

Which VorTech MP20 or MP40w? Make sure you get 2nd gen on either one...

How much is that Lee Mar stand, if you don't mind?

noblerot

Yep, no drawer, which worked out for me because I need the space all the way to the top of the inside. Lee Mar is the brand, the model is their solana tank stand, it is made specifically for this tank. I paid around $155 including tax.

Well I already have two of hte Current-USA ones, so I'll have to be happy with those for now, if I start another one, I'll consider it but not sure where in Oklahoma I could order it from, maybe my LFS?
