View Full Version : low ph on new tank dont know why

i just got a new tank running and the ph is at 7.8
i am using the same brand saly as my other tank anf that is at 8.2
why would it do this and what can i do to raise it?

Nothing to worry about you don't need 8.2 all the time. Ever crack a window sometime? Give it a try especially for these winter times.

problem is i am transfering fish for the tank i am running now to the new one and i have some expensive fish including an achilles wont the shock of 8.2 to 7.8 stress him ?

Is it 7.8 all the time? If it's 7.8 during the day it is lower during the night most likely. I would double check PH with a new kit or recalibrate probe to be sure. When you move the fish you still need to drip acclimate them.

i just got the tank running yesterday morning.
only has lr and sand now.
i will check it again this morning.
the test kit works good i checked my other tank with the fishin it and it is at 8.2 but once in a while it will test 8.0 but usually 8.2
should i use buffer?
