Yes, you will need a seperate pump to run it. I use a Kent Marine 'Nautilus Reactor' but anything you find will work the exact same IMO. If you purchase the 'ViaAqua PolyReactor' from Marine Depot (which i believe is on sale right now for only $35.99) comes with a pump.

You will use the reactor as a HOB (hang on back) device for your biocube.. Here's a picture of mine setup. The pump is located in the 1st chamber of my nanocube, and the return line also goes back into the 1st chamber...

it depends on what type of media you want to use in the reactor.

If you want Phosphate media, then yes, im sure the mj400's fine.

If you want to use Nitrate Media, then no, i would use something stronger.

Phosphate media = Low flow
Nitrate Media = Optimal Flow

Or if you look at my picture above, you will see nitrate media on the bottom, and phosphate media on top. That will suffice with a optimal flow setting because the nitrate media breaks up the flow prior to it rising to the phosphate media...

I absolutely love it and so do my corals. :D

I wanted an MP40w but I figured it would be overkill so I went with an MP20 with battery backup for about the same price. It puts out more flow that I can use so I made the right choice!

thanks guys for the inputs....

yes...ill be only running phosphate media in it as im having issues with GHA in my tank right now. i just bought the "Phosban Reactor 150" today along with the "Phosban Media". I noticed on both of your reactors you guys did not use the "foam/sponge" that was included with it.....why is that??

"jadams".....without the sponge, won't it leak out the phosphate media???

thanks!

so i finally got one and just installed it last night. im using the Phosban media with it too. my LFS told me that they dont carry the RowaPhos but this Phosban should be of the same quality....is it true??? anyways....you guys mentioned that the output goes back in to chamber 1. i did mine so that it pulls the water from chamber one and then the return is pointed at chamber two...should this matter??? here are some pics....

oh by the way.....should i be running this 24/7???? for how long???

thanks!
