My tank is doing fine but my levels are questionable.

Salt 1.025
Cal 430
Ph 8.1
Alk 5.1 Curious about this one
Mag red sea test lit highest reading is 1280. It is above that.


The only thing I dose is Tropic Marin Bio Calcium. Couple days a week.

Any suggestions on the Alk or the Mag?

Is your alk. reading measured in dKH or meq./l? Which test kit are you using and how old is it?

Many of the commonly used salt mixes have a higher mag. level than 1280 when mixed to a salinity of 1.0264.

Salifert test kit, I am guessing about 2 years old. it is measured in dKH.

I use Salifert test kits myself, but a 2 yr. old kit is probably not working correctly. I would buy a new one first before making any changes in your parameter.

You could take a sample to your LFS in the mean time. If you are not dosing an alk. supplement, it is possible it may be low but I would we careful before you increase it much. :)
