i got a 400w MH bulb and a friend told me that soft corals needs not to be near from bulb because they possible burns
and i want to see a pic of a coral burned
i got a Mntastrea Cavernosa

just down the bulb like 1ft.
and also i want to know if the coral will burn for the mh or not

Its possible. I once burned a colony of mushrooms when I first got my halides. They did survive, I had to move them to the bottom.

Montastrea sp. are deeper water corals, and should be placed accordingly. they can be acclimated to intense lighting, but you should start them off at lower PAR levels.
