can i do RO without buying any filters or etc?

RO is a membrane the water is pushed through to filter out contaminates. You can't have an RO without an RO filter. And as far as I know you can't DIY an RO membrane. Leave it up to the folks at DOW to mess with stuff like that.

RO/DI is in my opinion the worst place to skimp. It affects your entire system. Pay for a good RO/DI unit. Won't regret it. I like the Buckeye Field supply unit. they are a sponsor here. I got the $200 unit.

Agreed. This is an essential purchase, period. They're not exactly 'cheap', but neither is this hobby ;)
