I have a 215gal with 75gal sump sps reef in the works. What size ozonizer should I get?

Please take this the right way.....

Have you researched Ozone?

To me it look like the benifits do not outweigh the risk.

dean, its not a set mg/hour that is the issue. In order to really use ozone, you need to monitor ORP.

Make sure you monitor orp and then ozone is basically set and forget. You will always have a stable orp.

I think adding an ozonizer to a healthy tank as that last bit of equipment is a great idea. I wouldn't use it to fix a problematic situation, however. I have found that if you already have decent ORP readings, you can boost it a bit with ozone and get amazing water clarity. Plus, you will find that a healthy system tends to stay at the higher ORP without the ozone even coming on much after you hit your target. An ORP probe and controller is necessary.

Getting an ozonizer without a controller was never an option. I just was wondering if the smaller 50mg/hr unit would be able to keep up with almost 300 gallons heavily stocks with SPS but only a couple fish.
I'm pretty sure my tank wont need too much ozone once I'm done setting it up, it's just nice to have as a safety.

Go with an Ozotech ozonizer. These guys are ozone specialists. Get the Poseidon model. I have had a Red Sea 200 mg ozonizer and the Ozotech, and the Ozotech blows away the Red Sea even without an air drier.

For O3, Ozotech is the way to go.

Hope this helps.

Following along here, I too am adding an ozonizer with ORP probe but am unsure which unit 50,100, or 200mg/hr to purcahse. my tank is 240 total system volume is around 350 gallons. I want to use ozone to tweak the tank a bit more. Any thoughts?

I have nearly the same size tank and sump as Dean and totally agree with what tufacody stated. I've set mine at 350 at 90 mg/hr and it hardly turns on now after it hit it's mark about a month ago. The only think I wish is that I had bought an Ozotech instead of a used RedSea ozonizer.

With the ozotech I would need a separate controller correct? How about an air drier?

So I can get away with a 100mg/hr one? Bulk Reef Supply has one for 199. I'm pretty sure you have to buy the contoller separately with this one and air drier. Thanks guy, now I have to modify my skimmer.
