Just wondering when you went to more powerfull lighting did you put layers of egg crate under the lights to slowly acclimate them to the new lighting. The egg crates basically diffuse the stronger lighting. You basically take a layer out each week. This prevents coral bleaching from being burnt by the stronger lighting.

i never acclimated the corals to the light but the corals that melted were under MH lighting previously and i put them under the t5 . they are only a month old .there was about 70 heads on a disc and now they are almost all gone.there are about 15 heads left but they will not open and im almost sure theyll have the same fate as the others unless i can figure out what is causing this. i changed the lights from pc to t5 about a month and a half ago.oh and if you look at the last picture above the 2 heads that are redish in the center of the pic seem to have lost their skirt as well.

the green with orange centers in the middle are the one im talking about. its just weird because everything else is spreading and doing great .but i had this and another colony melt away

Just because they were in MH before and then now your putting them under T5s mean you shouldn't acclimate them to the new lighting. They can still get light shock, don't know if you know that T5's have been known to BLEACH corals as some folks don't realize that these lights are strong as heck as just like MH's.

Looks like the closed polyps are covered by a slimy substance?

there does seem to be a slime on them but i keep blowing it off at least twice a day. i even used my finger on a few heads and rubbed it off to see if that would change anything. i recently put it under a monti cap to see if a little shade may help but it did nothing.do pods eat zoas?is there anything else i can do?i guess losing the green and orange ones isn't so bad but i don't want to lose the armor of gods cause i really like them.the skirt is almost totally gone on one of the heads and i don't know what to do.i tried a few times to turn on the lights to see if anything is eating them in the middle of the night but i saw nothing and there is only 2 heads of those so im sure i would have seen something because there is nowhere to hide

I use a VERY Soft brush and gently brush off the slime or sludge on them. You might want to try reading the VItaminC thread of PufferPunks.

i treat with vitamin c every day.i do water changes every week.my parameters are perfect.i really dont know what is going on .ill try the brush but as of today there are only about 7 heads left i think its a goner.

if you see the armor of gods in the center of the picture here u can see what i mean about the skirt. the left heads skirt is almost totally gone . what could be causing this? light shock or eaten?and how can i fix it

thanks :) .now in my 10 gallon i have counted more than 20 different kinds of zoas.i love these things. i believe the colony are fire and ice but they are alot more red than some other fire and ice i have come across, and the one with 2 polyps are armor of gods

The slime sould be causing stress on the zoas, and causing the deterioration. The ones that look good dont seem to have the slime. I am guessing its cyno, or possibly dinofalgelets.

Might want to look into a 3 day lights out or erethromyacin to get rid of it. If you cant find any info on the myacin, pm me.

Also, love the 10 gallon. Brings back memories. Was the first tank that let me know I could actually keep corals. Loved it and miss it. Gonna set up another one soom, but a bit differently than what you are running.
