Ok, I need help! I ordered 2 SilenX fans (SILENX 60X25MM FAN IXP-34-16 RTL) from newegg.com in order to replace the stock fan on my 12g Aquapod and add another fan as well. The problem I am having is with the damn screws. The screws for the stock fan are not long enough since the new fans are double the size in thickness. I found out that the diameter size screw that I need is 4 and the length around 1 & 1/2" in order to secure the fan. The measurement for the stock screw is 4 in diameter and 1" in length. The screws that came with the fans are way thicker and will not screw into the plastic holes. I've looked everywhere for a 4 X 1 & 1/2" screw and no one carries it. How do I secure the new fans? I know people have done it because I've read it in threads but my question is how?

I actually found #4 screws that were like 1/2" and then only put them through the "lower" hole on the fan. Eg I didn't try to run them through the entire fan. I had enough room to go in with an angle and screw them in to the lid from the side.

Make sense ?.

Yup, thanks. I figured it out last night while I was at Home Depot. I bought a very thin screwdriver and just went straight down the holes. I also bought a 2pin to 3 pin adapter so I don't have to rewire anything.

Where did you find the 2pin to 3 pin adapter?

I actually desoldered the connectors on the small board in the aquapod hood and soldered in the connectors that came with the fans.

try pctoys.com that is where I ordered mine. Before that I just clipped off one of the connectors and made it a 2 pin (hey it worked) and plugged it in no problems. I also switched out fans but found a better fan than the silentX for the buck.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping to find someplace local that carried these. I found them at a place online for 99 cents a piece, however, shipping was $8.00.

I may just end up clipping and crimping.
