That is an awfully nice trigger fish! I don't know how to tell the sex, but male or female, that's a badboy!

It's a nice looking trigger. It's funny how much different it's face looks than my large niger. Mine has no stripe down the side like yours does. Also, the face on mine has a very distinctly different color than the rest of it's body,

Your niger seems to have a different body shape than mine, if possible. It has a lot more rounder looking head. Also, it has really vertically stretched scales, whereas mine are all pretty uniform.

Anyway, nigers are great fish, hope yours fits in well with the other inhabitants of the tank. Mine has done great so far :)

I'm going to post a picture here for you to compare to, hope you dont mind.

Your trigger's teeth should get redder and redder the better foods you feed, I think shrimp that is high in iodine and iron (not 100% sure on the iron) really help. Krill is also supposed to really bring out the red in fish, although I'm not sure if that helps with the color of teeth.

I just realized I havent taken a good picture of my niger for a couple months now, too many other fish to be taking pictures of ;) I'll have to get a good recent shot.

Awesome Redtooth Trigger there, they are awesome as adults....And no, there is no way to no the sex of them, at one time I heard a rumor that Males have more distinctively red teeth as adults, but I read that is not the case just a few days ago.

That really is weird how different they look, even the body shape like you said. Ive never seen such a rounded head on a trigger. Maybe its because they are from different areas? I dont know where nigers are found. You have a beautiful trigger too i love how red the teeth are. Ive been feeding a home made blend of shrimp scallops clams squid blended with garlic supplement so hopefully his teeth will reden(Im sure thats not even a word) up.
please do post an updated picture if you take one, how big is your niger?

I think it's a word but it has two D's in it. Gotta love a good double D. Redden.

My niger is probably about 13" if you count streamers... without streamers I'd guess about 10". I really need to measure my fish sometime. Maybe when I try to get my next good niger shot I'll stick a ruler by the tank.

My old niger was like that first one with the big diamond shapes on the sides and the blue lines and all. Both are sweet looking.

Gorgeous fish!! I saw one at my LFS the other day about that size and I had a minute of thinking "hmmm...ditch the reef, get the rest of the fish out and get him in!" before I had to slap myself awake. Good luck with him (or her)!
