I'm going to be installing my RODI outside in my hot water heater hut. I am worried that on some of these cold nights the water inside the RODI will freeze....will this hurt anything? what are my alternatives? thanks

yes, the membrane will be ruined if it freezes. on the directions to the membrane it says to be careful to not let it freeze.

Also the filter housings will crack/shatter.

so, what do you guys do? Do you take it down when you think it might freeze? Do you install it somewhere else?

Mine is installed inside, I tee'd off the cold water line leading to my washing machine.

I left mine outside, and all the housings are now cracked. I would keep it inside somewhere, maybe under a sink in spare bathroom or in the basement if you have one.
