when does old home feel like new for a sailfin tang

I have a large sailfin tang. I introduced a medium sized powder blue tang. as expected the sailfin was not happy about it. I took the sailfin out to my QT with the hope that when I reintroduce him to the tank, he would be tolerant to the tank inhabitants.
My question is how long does a tang need to be away from a tank to regard it as new home when reintroduced?
(I am aware that the PBT may show some aggression later on.)

I wouldnt think more than 2 weeks. Of course that's still no guarantee that they'll get along. You can also try to rearrange some of the rockwork.
