i had a post up awhile back about something eating my zoas at night and the onlything around them ever were pods.

so i pulled the remaining frads out and put them in my fuge on a rack. for about a week they were closed and i had lost hope. but this morning when i checked i had 8 nice looking polyps of fire and i ce left i was excited.

also i noticed 3 polyps of my wammin watermelloons were open but they had no "hairs" or colored disk all there is, is a mouth. and they seem to be grownin the colors back.. hard to explain i will try to post a pic if i can get a good one..

Usually when I have ampipod attacks on my polyps, I just raise them up on frag racks where the pods are more hesitant of going up to for fear of predation. Which is why I have 4 wrasses in my 37 gal/

If you find a way to prevent amphi-attacks on epoxied frags I got an Icefire Echi frag with your name on it!

I watched amphipods comsume an SPS frag I spent good coin on. It was depressing not to mention how they devasted some pretty nice mohawks.

I employ 4 wrasses in my tank. A yellow coris ( the most hard working out of the bunch, when I disturb the polyps and it retracts the coris comes in right away to inspect between the polyp and the mat for pests. ), I also have the leopard which is also a hard worker. A fairy wrasse and last is a mystery ( larger mouth aids in taking out larger ampipods. ). I added all of them the same time to prevent fighting.

Your other course of action although drastic is, dosing the tank with interceptor. This will take out pretty much any invertebrate in your tank ( predominantly used for red bug cure ) it also kills pods, ampipods, snails, crabs etc... I've done this before to kill tons of ampipods eating my zoa colonies before.

I'd be ****ed to if pods where eating my IceFire enchi ( thats a expensive piece , like it but can't afford that baby LOL ) good luck.

Don't jinx me now. My echi is my buddy, and fortuneately not the coral they chow on.

It's funny becuase the amphipods only go after coral put in a specific place in the tank. It's akin to a nest of cockroaches. I put and lost the following all in the same spot

95% of a mohwks colony - The only one I was able to move
100 polyp colony of some bright green zoas
Purple Poccilipora
Rommels Rainbow A. Millepora - The "Big Money" piece I was referring too. :(

At the end of the day the tank looks great and I found a coral to put there that does not get affected, so Interceptor would just sadden me. Lots of cool inverts I wouldn't want to try and catch or risk losing for that matter.

My pod counterstike force consists of....

Green Wrasse
Adorned Wrasse
Yellow Multibanded Pipefish - Happily hooked on cyclopeeze, sadly not hunting for pods anymore.

The pods have developed +2 plate mail armor now and seem to defy nature, thus eluding the strike force. I believe they have buddied up with the nocturnal peppermint shrimp squad that I have prowling around at night.

BTW - I love my tank and everyone in it!
