Cupramine

Does anyone know how long a fish needs to be in a QT tank with Cupramine to be Ich free. I need to move them to a clean tank but dont want to do it before the Ich is 100% gone. Thanks Ken

I would think about 5 weeks if the copper concentration did not go out of the ich kill range at any time. The reason I say that is in all the studies that I have read on line 5 weeks is about the longest time that the ich in the sand can live before they become swimmers and can re-infect your fish. The swimmers only can live 18 to 48 hours before they find a host fish, if no host fish they die. Think that the copper mainly kills the swimmers, and not the ones that are on cysts for about a week growing on the fish or the ones in the sand that are growing and dividing. Lesley
