i got an order of corals and stuff today and i ordered some Agar? from ORA. it was only a couple of bucks and i needed to make the min order requirements.
Anyway, it is big and red, um i dont know much or anything about this algae, so any ideas? general info, will it take over a reef tank?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agar Its sold in health food stores as a substitute for gellatin. For aquaria agar's most common use is as a binder for DIY food mixes where raw seafood is blended, mixed with agar, then frozen.

Gelidium amansii (http://www.algaebase.org/search/species/detail/?species_id=1830) is commonly known as Agar-Agar. Be aware other Gelidiums and Gracilarias are sometimes called Agar.
It's hard to predict what will become a pest or not; since it depends on many variables like available nutrients, predators, etc.
