How long can a nassarius snail be out of water? Would one be okay out of water for a half hour?

Mine crawl up the side of my tank til they are out of the water, never seems to hurt them.

So if I did an experiment with them for a half hour out of water they'd be alright? I hope they will be slightly disoriented but not close to dead.

No, just an experiment on their disorientation and reaction time to positive and adverse stimuli after different lengths of exposure to oxygen.

Well, they're exposed to plenty of oxygen in the water, so I'm not sure what your experiment will show. Do you rather mean, reaction time when exposed to air? What controls are you going to use? What's your baseline for disorientation and reaction time in a snail?
I'm not being snarky, I do experiments for a living so these are real questions :) Although, experiments like this are why government funded researchers have to file ethics reports :)

My thought would be......They know what they want & need just by instinct & survival. If they come out of the water then go back in.....NO Worries....they know what their doing.

reefscavengers.com actually ships these guys out of water. Just a lil bit of moisture in the bag, so I dont see why a half hour out of water would hurt them

+1 and they actually ship them like this priority, Got 15 from them and not one death shipping this way, I'd say half an hour would be no problem.

Well, many species of Nassarius are found intertidally so 30 minutes of exposure certainly isn't an issue. I always pack them without water for transport and I haven't lost any even with 3 days out of water.
