Purchased a large Midas Blenny about 5 inches long, Yesterday, does anyone have one of these colorful fish...
I did some reading about them before hand, and they said that they are excellent fish and usually will ignored other tankmates...
I find the fellow I have seem's to nip at the tail's of the other fish ...is this because he's a the new guy...

He's probably trying to establish his own territory. I have one that is pretty shy most of the time, but if someone intrudes in his little area he gets a bit nippy. I have seen him headbutt hermit crabs to get them away from his hole.

Mine is mellow, but does stand his ground. It does sound like he's just establishing himself.

Awesome fish :)

Mine chases my radiant wrasse around sometimes, but if the other fish gets near is little whole in the rock he gets pretty territorial. +1 on the awesome fish

I have heard that Midas can be pretty aggressive towards other fish that look like them or blennys for that matter. I have one right now and it is my favorite fish.

Just give it time. Mine hid for a week before feeling comfortable enough to swim around and hang out.

Thanks..For the info..:-)

The fellow that I just purchased yesterday swims all over the tank it's out most of the day, not to scared and it seems to eat pretty good..... just that when the other fish are swimming in his path he'll nip them..... Our tank is on the smaller side 55 gallon.
He seems to go after the Flame Fairy Wrasse....
I also have a Yellow Watchman Goby, and the Blenny has taken over his home.....
Does anyone have pictures and more information on this fish...
I'm hopeing I made the right choice in getting this fellow....

here is a pic of my midas "Spongebob". I dont believe you have made a wrong decision at all. I have a 150g and probably gives my midas more room to move around BUT I am sure with time yours will calm down. If after a week he is still being so aggressive I would then consider him out!

Mine pretty much runs the tank, with the exception of my clown's. I have about 20 fish total and he goes toe to toe with any one of them. He was never shy.

Great fish and it's out all the time. I added mine about 3 weeks ago and it was out and eating within a couple hours. Mine doesn't mess with any my other fish. My flame angel harassed it on occasion the first couple days but now all is good. That fish is a pig, loves all foods.
