Thought I'd read that clay planting pots were good hiding places for fish in the QT. I picked up a couple cheap and upon putting them in the QT they began pouring out clouds of small bubbles. I took them out and submerged them in fresh water, and didn't get the bubble reaction. Are the pots soluble in salt water, or is something else going on, like a reaction to a glaze [though it did not appear that these were glazed at all.]? Are the pots putting material in the water that's harmful to the animals? I've got a couple small pieces of PVC in there as well, but some others I tried that would be a more suitable size actually floated, so I tried the pots instead. Thanks for your input.

I've seen pots in QT too, but for me, it's too much of a risk. Where are these pots made, and from what material? I once had a cup and saucer I bought in mexico test so much lead I'm shocked I wasn't glowing silver.

Too much of a downside risk, when all you need are big ABS end caps you can purchase at plumbing supply warehouses.
