I don't know anything about that thread but do know tile saws and will say that it would cut through LR with no problem. I've cut through granite, ceramic, porcelain, bricks, slate and other rocky materials and the diamond saw blade cuts through like butter. I do have a professional model of saw but I think a small cheapie should work too.

you could always use a sawsall, I think that was the main tool for cutting the pyramid bricks.

Just make sure you wear eye, mouth and nose protection. God knows what critter you will cut through.

I am of no help right now but, I know the thread you are talking about. It was an overflow he covered. It was in the center of his tank.

A tile saw would work great. I have a contractor grade tile saw and it has a 10" diamond blade. when you factor in the arbor washer, you could only cut thru an object no more than 4" thick. If you had a table style tile saw, you could cut a larger peice by running it thru, flip it over and complete the cut from the other side.
Dont use a sawzall. it would jig & jibe all over the place and make a ragged cut.

Another option would be to put a masonry blade on a skill saw or table saw.

Thanks, I'm a contractor/carpenter, so I am familiar w/ the tools, but thanks.
It was how he fastened from the back I can't remember, and what was used for backing.
I have a center OF, and basically want to set a square of backwall on eack side to cover clear backwall and have backwall mount space.
Thinking of something like starboard/tile/stone, or even eggcrate w/ agracrete, and flat cut LR stamped in.

I remember the thread. He used car trim clips. Like the kind that hold moling panels to the body of the car.

And there we are!
Yeah, thats the one, and thats why I didn't remember, car trim clips, not very common, but cool mount.
Thanks scbadiver, I'll be sure to bookmark this time.
It's kinda a bummer DIY threads seem to disappear fast.
