I've have this piece for 6 weeks now. I got it from DD. It is a Tabling Acropora. Its green polyps have not opened up once since I have owned it. The rest of the coral in my tank is doing well. This is my first coral I have purchased that said Difficult to take care of. It said high light and high current. I had it at the top of my tank for about a month now. The tops were whitening up. It never opened up once. Nor at night. For the last two weeks, I have since moved it to the bottom of my tank with plenty of current. I have 8 t-5's for lighting. All I dose my tank with is phytoplankton. I feed mysis and krill to the fish. I change anywhere from 40 gal to 55 gal every month with weekly water changes. Does anyone have any suggestions. Am I starving it from lack of knowledge.

Do you have any other sps in the tank? What are your levels, specifically CA, alk, MG, ph? I would definitly keep it at the bottom of the tank for awhile. What lights was it under when you bought it? Taking most any coral ou buy and putting it directly under 8 T5's with make it not open/bleach. the white tips is an indication of bleaching ie. too much light. The lighting is no doubt the biggest reason it is turning white and not opening, but if you post some of your tank specs, maybe we can help you get it looking good again and happy. sps require high light (slowly), a lot of indirect flow, and stable parameters.

There is a nano jet in the center cave there.

Well it definitly looks like you know what your doing! Nice tank you have going on there. Did you dip it before you put it in? If not, do ou see anything on it, especially at night? I think most of the problem is the light deal. I would keep it low and in moderate to high flow for awhile and see if it perks up at all. keep us posted.

It is extremely clean day and night. I think it is a light deal, but it doesn't seen to help bottom or top. Which is why I was wondering if this piece requires supplements other than what I am doing already.

Thank you for the compliment.

Thanks for the help. If it improves or gets worse for that matter, I'll post it.

Well, as most things in this hobby, it takes time. Especially with some of the more touchy species. I would leave it there and wouldn't really expect to see any changes for a couple weeks. I'd doubt it will need any additional suppliments, just some good ole calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium to stabilize the two! Most tables when they get bigger like some wicked flow. If the spot toward the bottom of the tank doesn't have a lot of flow and the piece is showing no signs for the better in 2 weeks or so, you may want to keep it low but just increase the flow a bit in that area and see what happens after that. good luck to you!
