Hi Guys. I am thinking about adding some LED spotlights to supplement my MH lamps for a little more "pop" from my acans.

I am finding plenty in the 450-453 nM wave length which should be bright enough to make a difference.

I have it in my head that 470 nM is the best wavelength. Is this true... or would something around 450 do the job?

Here is what I am looking at.

420nm is what you want.

i have 460nm over my tank. They give exactly the pop i was looking for

look at Current Led products. They are awesome.

I agree the current led powerbrites are pretty darn good, just keep in mind they will not cover very much of an area since each one only has 4 LEDs. But they are really bright and the actinic pop on them is nutz... way beyond what my 140w VHO superactinics can do!

I got two of each kind, "actinic" (around 460) and the actinic + white. have not mounted them in the canopy yet but I tested them out and was impressed by both PAR output and color.

that PAR38 lamp u posted is probably great too, just takes up a massive amount of space inside the canopy once its in the socket etc.

If you go the PAR38 route... look into "Divine Lighting". They have a 12x1w bulb similar to the one above, but I believe they actually put out more lumens per watt.
