With so many options, I need help deciding on which test kits I need for my new tank. I plan on starting the process soon and need help with which type kits. And even more important, what brand people find works best for the dollars. As you might know, with my set-up nearing completion, the budget is already bust!!!
Thanks in advance for all the helpful advice....

I have the Reef Master Kit from Instant Ocean. It includes tests for Ph, Nitrate, Alkalinity, Calcium, and Phosphate. These tests are both simple and easy to read.

For Ammonia, Nitrite, and Magnesium, I use Salifert. These tests are also both simple and easy to read.

If you take a look at the customer reviews on marinedepot, not all brands are simple or easy to read. Often these are testers with a higher degree of resolution, but it's often also more than most hobbyists need and not worth the trouble or added expense.

I've seen some complain that Salifert is over-priced, but I'm really happy with the balance struck by all the testers I've named above.

+1 for API which I use for all except Alk and Mg, in which I use Salifert.

I use Salifert for Calcium and Magnesium and I use Elos for everything else.
