I have mine sitting in 7.5" water depth and it is steady just pouring bubbling water into the cup with the valve open fully. This is a brand new skimmer and a brand new tank with all new saltwater. Should i just let it run like this(i have the cup drain line just duumping back into the sump) for break in or is there something else that could be causing this. I never had a skimmer that i could not adjust to stop overflowing.

Ronnie, can you post a pic of how your output plumbing is set up?

I'll take a pic for you tomorrow. It is basically just using the 90 off the Tee and it is at the water level. Half of the 90 is in the water and half out.

Jeff,
today at lunch i feed my tank and the overbubbling stopped for a few minutes. I can't figure out how to get this thing to skim and not overflow. The pipe is open and as you can see there is no backpressure in the plumbing.
Please advise...

Do you have the wedge pipe open? It almost seems like it might be set to restrictively.

It is Wide open Rob, thats why I am clueless as to whats going on. Been like this for days now!
Seems like it needs more neck height. I know I can't get any shallower water because the pump is pulling some serious water in at 7.5"

Yes it is 100% wide open...any thoughts???
First time I have not been able to dial down a skimmer

Look for a restriction in the air intake. Take the volute off the pump. You will see it is a different type of venturi. The air nozzle goes to a little ring. Use a drill bit that just fits inside the air intake and twist it a little till it goes all the way in. You will see the tip of the drill bit in the ring. There should be no resistance at the end. What I'm wondering is if the air fitting got glued in and there is some glue partially blocking the air nozzle of the venturi. Just give it a good inspection to see if anything looks wrong.

Thaks for the idea...I will look into it, but I seriously doubt it is blocked...this thing is sucking some major air!!!

It will pull lots of air even if there is a restriction but not blocked. That is the only thing I can think of that would cause what you are seeing that is skimmer related. If you have something in the water like 2 part reef epoxy or other stuff that drives skimmers crazy, that would be the other thing.

Well looks like either something was in the water or the skimmer just needed to break in. Its a Foam making machine now. Not sure but I'm looking forward to dialing it in to see what it can do. The amount and size of the bubbles are just insane.

Actually I do :D
I am very pleased with the 1A since that pump issue was resolved. This thing is dead quite and is a serious foam making machine. I guess it just needed to break in and or I had something in the water making it go nuts before.
I think I have the new style wheel on this one...not sure though.
All I know is it starts everytime and is dead quite...I like both

Yep, the new pump you received has the new PW in it...we were out of the old CNC'd PW's, and I was waiting for the new one to come in to send you a pump. I'm glad that you got it working and are happy with it :D
